Rachel Jones is a figurative painter, a native of South Carolina and a South Carolina Arts Commission Grant Recipient. Many of the works are quiet, contemplative, and lyrical. Mixed media and selective realism are used to create exciting modern works addressing timeless issues.

The images are often quiet, mysterious, and explore the more challenging sides of human nature. Jones has created larger works but prefers the intimacy of smaller works since they compel the viewer to come closer creating a one on one conversation.

Jones says, “My aim is not to tell a story from beginning to end, but to have observers immerse themselves in a moment.” Focusing on the not-so-perfect individualizes each piece.
