Harbor Lights Project

“A Beacon of Hope”

A dozen area artists have put their unique twist on 14, 16” turned wooden lighthouses. Their creations will be on display in various “Lighthouse Keeper” Venues on Front St. & the downtown area. Lookout out for the Lighthouse Keeper Venue Poster in the windows of our partner stores. An online auction will be held from Sunday, October 3rd to Monday, October 18th to raise funds for children’s after-school art programs. Art Harbor Gallery and Optimism Preventative Services have teamed up to provide the necessary resources for at-risk kids in our community.  Bidding is open to the general public and anyone interested in bidding can do so between Sunday, October 3, and Saturday, October 18.

The idea of artistically transforming wooden lighthouses was the brainchild of Art Harbor Gallery owner and artist Debbie Smith. “Lighthouses have kept seafarers from harm for over two millennia and that symbolism has not been lost on us. We hope to harness the power of art and the community’s generous spirit so that together we can be a beacon of hope for our at-risk youth,” said gallery co-owner Alan Sherlock.
